As with everything in life, there is so much that goes on behind the scenes to bring floral designs to fruition. Here are a few examples of what leads to the total cost of wedding flowers.
Cost of flowers. We believe in sourcing high-quality blooms, full of life. Our farmers deserve to be paid well for their product as they’re grown with much love and hard work. The cost of sourcing blooms from are wholesalers is surprisingly more than one might think. Contrary to the flowers you see at the grocery store, the price your designers pay for wholesale blooms is typically 2-3x more than you’d pay at your local grocery store. This is because we pay a premium for the freshest and most beautiful flowers and the confidence of having them for our customers. Flowers would be much less expensive if we designed with whatever came down the factory line.
Maintenance. Flowers are an ephemeral product. That’s part of their beauty and attributes to their cost as they require so much to preserve their health and appearance. Costs account for the delivery price, time to process (clean the petals, remove leaves and prepare for the design),
maintain and store them in a refrigerated space to ensure they look amazing on your wedding
day. All of this takes many hours and various resources to complete.
Hardgoods. These are the renewables such as the vase rentals, and other supplies used to store,
process, pack, etc.
Softgoods. The non-renewables, such as floral food, floral tape, silk ribbon, etc.
Most importantly, we believe our staff should be paid in the reflection of their hard work and dedication. We believe in valuing our employees and recognize how that directly translates to a superior client experience. Months before your event, our staff prepare by floral and supply sourcing, recipe building, ordering, planning, and meetings in the days leading up flower prep and care, arrangement creation, travel, onsite set-up, to packing up at the end of the event. The day of the event is usually the 4th or 5th straight day that your design team has been working solely on your event and there is at least one day after spent sorting and cleaning up.
Finally, the cost for the design itself - you are purchasing a piece of floral artwork that is a culmination of your vision and our years of experience in floral artistry. We believe that we deserve to be paid because dedication to service and level are artistry we uphold.
We love to guide others in our creative industry as they build their businesses. We offer one-on-one and group sessions for various topics, including fundamental floral design skills, workflows, designing the client experience, portfolio building, etc. In the coming year, we will be introducing our educational content for aspiring designers or knowledge seekers to buy online.
